ASTM G75 Slurry Abrasion Wear Tester Miller SAR

Introduction

The ASTM G75 Slurry Abrasion Wear Tester Miller SAR is used to determine the slurry abrasiveness (Miller Number) and slurry abrasion response (SAR Number) of materials, in accordance with the ASTM G75 standard.

Applications

The slurry abrasion tester can be used to develop data from which the relative abrasiveness of any slurry (Miller Number) or the response of different materials to the abrasiveness of various slurries (SAR Number) can be determined, meeting the ASTM G75 standard, "Test Method for Determination of Slurry Abrasivity (Miller Number) and Slurry Abrasion Response (SAR Number) of Materials."

The Miller Number is an indicator of the relative abrasiveness of a slurry. Its primary purpose is to classify the abrasiveness of slurries based on the wear of a standard reference material.

The SAR Number is an indicator of the relative wear response of a material tested in any specific slurry. The SAR Number is a generalized form of the Miller Number applicable to materials other than the reference material used for Miller Number determination. Its primary purpose is to classify construction materials used in pumping and fluid handling equipment systems for specific slurries. A higher SAR Number indicates more severe damage to the test material specimen by the slurry.
