Silicon nitride's high hardness and low sliding friction coefficient make it suitable for ceramic wear-resistant composite plating on metal surfaces. When applied in coatings, it provides wear resistance and solvent resistance. High-purity silicon nitride can be used as a release agent for quartz crucibles.
