Photovoltaic Module Selection

       A photovoltaic power generation system achieves the inverter's rated input voltage by connecting a large number of photovoltaic modules of the same specifications and characteristics in series to form strings. These strings are then connected in parallel to reach the system's predetermined rated power. Due to the large number of devices, they must be arranged at certain intervals to avoid mutual shading, forming an array known as a photovoltaic power generation array. A circuit formed by connecting several photovoltaic modules of the same specifications and characteristics in series constitutes a basic array unit.   

      Each photovoltaic power generation array includes battery modules of predetermined power, inverters, and booster distribution rooms, among other components. Several photovoltaic power generation arrays are connected through an electrical system to form a photovoltaic power station. Selecting suitable photovoltaic modules is crucial for the investment, operation, and benefits of the entire power station. Crystalline silicon remains the mainstream material for solar photovoltaic cells. Monocrystalline silicon cells are the earliest and most technologically mature solar photovoltaic cells, offering the highest efficiency among mass-produced silicon-based solar cells.

      Monocrystalline silicon cells are manufactured by cutting and polishing silicon monocrystals to produce monocrystalline silicon wafers. Electrodes are printed on these wafers, followed by encapsulation and other processes. Mature technologies from the modern semiconductor industry, such as monocrystal pulling, cutting and polishing, printing, etching, and encapsulation, can be directly applied to monocrystalline silicon cell production. The efficiency of mass-produced monocrystalline silicon cells can reach 13-30%. However, the cutting and polishing processes result in significant silicon material loss. Due to the shape limitations of silicon monocrystal rods, monocrystalline silicon cells must be made circular, which also affects the layout of photovoltaic modules.

(1) Crystalline silicon cell technology is mature, with stable product performance and a long service life.

(2) Among commercially used solar cells, monocrystalline silicon has the highest conversion efficiency, followed by polycrystalline silicon, though the difference between the two is minimal.

(3) Crystalline silicon cell modules have an extremely low failure rate and require the simplest operation and maintenance.

(4) Using crystalline silicon photovoltaic modules in open spaces allows for simple and convenient installation, compact arrangement, and space savings.

(5) Although amorphous silicon thin-film batteries have certain advantages in terms of price, low-light response, and high-temperature performance, their service life is relatively short.
